I bring forth my creations from Wichita, Kansas. Untainted by formal education, my works stand as unique as they are diverse. My media are the materials, tools and techniques from my 35-year career in the automotive collision industry.
Though I've done many 2-D pieces in acrylic and pastel, as well as some 3-D wood and soapstone, I've found my own unique sculpture, mining salvaged and wrecked auto parts, reshaping, combining them, then painting them in state-of-the-art acrylic urethane finish. Creating and repairing are parallel with very different outcomes. To repair is problem solving to duplicate the original. To create is problem solving toward an unknown and dynamic conclusion.
I'm thankful that I have found this talent. I'm like a midwife when I get into the "zone"; I'm more facilitator than creator. I love art and enjoy my work being appreciated. |
